Reporting From South India:

St Thomas Orthodox Cathedral in the State of Kerala- South India mourns over the demise of the Russian Patriarch His Holiness Alexy II. The Cathedral is believed to be 1500 years old and belongs to the Mavelikara Diocese of the Orthodox Church of the East (Indian Orthodox Church).

A five feet cut out of His Holiness has been placed in the front of the Cathedral. The cut out was placed on behalf of the St Thomas Orthodox Youth Movement .Special prayers were offered for the departed soul of the Patriarch by Vicar Rev Fr Alexander Vattakatu. Special announcements and prayers were held at all parishes and shrines of the Malankara Orthodox Church as per the special order of the Catholicose of Apostolic Throne of St Thomas and Malankara Metropolitan, His Holiness Moron Mor Baselius Marthoma Dydimos I who is supreme head of the Orthodox Church in India.
