Commission appointed to organize Patriarch Alexy's Funeral
0 Comments Published by georgy on Saturday, December 6 at 10:43 PM. Moscow, December 6, Interfax - The Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church on Saturday set up a commission to organize the funeral of Patriarch Alexy II who headed the Church and died on Friday.
The chairman of the commission is Kirill, metropolitan of Smolensk and Kaliningrad, whom the Synod elected on Saturday as the interim head of the Church.
The commission includes Kliment, metropolitan of Kaluga and Borovsk and property manager of the Moscow Patriarchate; Arseny, archbishop of Istra; Mark, bishop of Yegoryevsk; Archpriest Mikhail Ryazantsev, sacristan of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior; Archpriest Alexander Abramov, chief of protocol of the Moscow Patriarchate; priest Vladimir Vigilyansky, head of the press service of the patriarchate; Senior Deacon Vladimir Nazarkin, chief of patriarchal protocol; Yevgeny Parkhayev, director of the Sofrino arts enterprise; and Nikolay Kapchuk, chairman of the parochial council of the Patriarchal Cathedral of the Epiphany.
