His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr of Kyiv and All Ukraine Presented Copy of Peresopnytsia Gospels to Russian Ecclesiastical Mission

September 27, 2008. On the feast of Exaltation of the Honourable and Life-giving Cross His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr together with archpastors of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church concelebrated at the Divine Liturgy to His Most Godly Beatitude Theophilos III of the Holy City of Jerusalem and All Palestine.
The same evening the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the Holy Trinity Cathedral of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission in Jerusalem presented the Mission with a facsimile copy of the Peresopnytsia Gospels before a vast assembly of clergy and praying people. Taking aprt in the presentation also were: Archbishop Varsonofy of Saransk and Moldova, and the hierarchs of the UOC from amongst the delegation of His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr. Before the ceremony began the head of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church performed a prayer service and signed the praying people by the Honourable and Life-Giving Cross.
In his homily His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr said that the Peresopnytsia Gospels is the sacred book on which the Presidents of Ukraine swear at inauguration. The head of the Ukrainian Church thanked the head of the Mission archimandrite Tikhon (Zaytsev) for the hospitality that the members and nuns of the Mission render to all pilgrims coming to the Holy Land to worship the Life-Giving Sepulcher of the Lord and other Holy Sites.
