Moscow, December 5, Interfax - The widow of former Russian president Boris Yeltsin said the head of the Russian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Alexy II, who died on Friday, has done invaluable work for Russia and "was for everyone a man who instilled hope in the heart."
"He has done such a lot. It is his work that spirituality has been revived and is being revived here in Russia - thousands of churches, monasteries, the Church of Christ the Savior. He instilled this spirituality in the heart of every Russian, those who worship God and even those do don't believe; he has instilled faith," Naina Yeltsina told Russia's Vesti television.
"There was amazing understanding" between her husband and Alexy, and "they saw each other quite often," she said.
