Moscow, December 1, Interfax – Patriarch Alexy II of Moscow and All Russia is to visit Austria on December 20-23.
“The Holy Patriarch’s visit will be very important not only for Orthodox believers, but for representatives of all country’s Christian confessions,’ Representative of the Russian Orthodox Church to the European Institutions Bishop Hilarion of Vienna and Austria told Interfax-Religion. The Patriarch visits Austria on the invitation of Bishop Hilarion and Austrian cardinal Christoph Schonborn. The Primate is to consecrate St. Nicholas Cathedral in Vienna, which is a spiritual center of the Russian Church local diocese acting from 1962.
The Patriarch last visited Vienna in 1997.
