New Notification from Abou Fana Monks, Diocese Calls for Donations to Re-Build Wall
0 Comments Published by georgy on Monday, September 1 at 11:37 PM.Abou Fana monastery monks submitted on Thursday a new notification to Menya attorney general to protest against the fact that the police were still keeping the monastery digger impounded after more than three weeks. They called for this machine to be quickly given back to them so that they could use it to build the wall, especially as the governor and security leaders have already given their go-ahead.
The diocese deputy, father Bola Anwar, said the monks had submitted a notification to the general attorney as they had got fed up with the delay. “The Prosecution is demanding the customs’ original clearance” he said. “No digger owner has one, though, as the Customs only give copies”.
“When we decided to resort to another digger, a check-point on the road to the monastery also asked us for the original customs clearance for it to be allowed to enter.” He also said that the wall was very long (about seven Km), adding: “We need the digger to end the wall construction within the two months set by the governor.”
He also called on Copts to help monks finish the construction of the wall through donations. “The cost is huge” he added “and we need donations, as Mallawi cannot afford these expenses alone.” Meanwhile, diocese lawyer Ehab Ramzi praised the wall reconstruction process and said: “Relations between Muslims and Copts are now as friendly as they used to be before the monastery incidents and have not been affected.” “Menya Governor promised us to extend the period for the reconstruction of the wall if the two months are not enough” he said.
