Alexy II points to heroism and devotion to truth shown by S.Ossetians

Tskhinvali, September 3, Interfax – Patriarch Alexy of Moscow and All Russia noted courage and devotion to truth shown by the people of South Ossetia. “He (the Patriarch - IF) asked me to convey his kindest greetings to you personally and the people of Ossetia for your heroism, devotion to truth and aspiration for the truth of Christ. That is the most important thing for us,” chair of the Moscow Patriarchate Synodal Department for Charity and Social Service Metropolitan Sergy of Voronezh and Borisoglebsk said to the South Ossetian President Eduard Kokoity at their meeting in Tskhinvali. According to Metropolitan Sergy, Alexy II is undergoing medical treatment, but when they talked on the phone, he “regretted that he is out of Russia these days”, the South-Ossetian state committee for information and mass media has reported with the reference to Kokoity’s press service. The Moscow Patriarchate representative also shared his impressions from the visit to the destroyed Tskhinvali. “It is impossible to remain indifferent. It’s strange that it happened in the 21st century, in Europe. Such things are done and lie has clouded the eyes of those responsible for the destiny of the world. They want to build something on this lie. However, nothing can be built on lie, truth always wins,” Metropolitan Sergy said. President Kokoity thanked the Russian Orthodox Church, especially Archbishop Feofan of Stavropol and Vladikavkaz, who also attended the meeting, for the extended help. “We, the Orthodox people of South Ossetia, consider these steps of the bishop as a great help and support of our nation,” the president said.
