Moscow, December 5, Interfax - Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has expressed condolences on the demise of the head of the Russian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Alexy II . "A very grievous event has happened in the life of this country, our society - Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Alexy II has died. Not only was he an outstanding religious figure and true spiritual leader, he was also a great citizen of Russia," a presidential statement circulated by the Kremlin press service says.
