The Church believes Goths are open to religious talks

Kirov, October 24, Interfax - Staff-members of the Vyatka diocesan youth department believe that Goths show great interest in religious search.

"Goths often come to our Thomas discussion club. They are very interested in the theme of death, life after death. They admire traditional black cloths of clerics and monks. I believe missionaries should pay more attention to Goths as a social group actively interested in Orthodoxy," Head of the diocesan youth department Deacon Oleg Fominykh told Interfax-Religion.

According to Fr. Oleg, when talking to representatives of any youth subculture, it is necessary to find common grounds, common interests that can bridge them to Orthodoxy. It is important for young people not to isolate in certain subcultural frames, to participate in joint useful actions, social service. The Vyatka Diocese has an experience of missionary work with other youth subcultures. Thus, Archpriest Alexander Perminov is a leader of the Transfiguration Order Club for bikers. The Club helps orphans and holds actions to return historical names to the streets.
