H.H.Alexy II cast ballot at Russian Presidential Election

Moscow, March 2, Interfax - Patriarch Alexy II of Moscow and All Russia has cast his ballot at the Russian presidential election on Sunday afternoon. "It is very important that everyone turn out for today's election and fulfill his civil duty, because Russia's future depends on everyone's contribution," Alexy II told journalists after the vote.

By tradition, the Patriarch voted in his residence in Chisty Pereulok in Moscow.

He also urged to "thank Vladimir Putin who has selflessly served Russia for eight years" and stressed the importance of having the political course launched by Putin continued by the new president. The patriarch has also wished to the future president "success in this responsible service for the benefit of Russia and its people." "Hopefully, the elections will be successful and we will be able to welcome the new president who will assume the great responsibility for our country's future," the Russian patriarch said.
